5 of 5 Super Operator: Practical Water Treatment September 19, 2019
Reviewer: William Goodman Lead Operator from Lake Kilby Water Treatment Plant
Super Operator: Practical Water Treatment Plant Operations and Training plugs a major gap in our industry.  There are many technical manuals in the marketplace that are great at teaching theory and fundamental water treatment concepts and principles. This manual is for the practical everyday operator that is in need of expanding their critical thinking skills, professionalism, and producing a high quality product.  The bar has been set.  As the lead operator at my facility in charge of training, this manual has become a must have.  Super Operator: Practical Water Treatment Plant Operations and Training goes through several real world scenarios offering troubleshooting solutions.  My goal is to ensure all our operators raise their standards to becoming “Super Operators.”  This manual does just that.

4 of 5 Super Operator July 30, 2019
Reviewer: Paul J. Retel from Chesapeake, VA
Throughout this book, Mr. Brooks stresses the importance of both having an in-depth understanding of how your plant operates and also troubleshooting from a holistic, or systems, perspective.  This emphasis is often missing in other operator training resources.  He also discusses the importance of taking time to understand how each system of the plant affects the others so that when the plant is out of alignment, the solution does not detrimentally affect other systems.  He has practical tips on issues such as receiving chemical shipments correctly, the importance of accurate operating logs, and regulatory issues.  This book is a great resource for new operators desiring to round out individual topics they may have learned in the classroom and on the job.  Mr. Brooks has a practical approach to all of the issues discussed in the book, and he clearly enjoys sharing his knowledge.
